About Me/Contact

“God is within her, she will not fall.”  -Psalm 46:5

Hello! My name is Ehitare Emuze, or Tare for short. As some of you may have picked up, I am proudly Nigerian! My family emigrated to the U.S. in the year 2000 when I was 5 years old. I did most of my schooling here in the states from grades K-12, graduating from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, with a B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology, Pre-Med in May 2017. I then went on to complete a Post-Bacc/Masters program  at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in their MEDPREP program where  I received by M.B.S in May 2019.

More about me: I have four siblings: two brothers and two sisters, and two very loving and supporting parents. I consider myself a very spiritual person. Who I am and where I am today has been shaped largely by my Christian faith. In my free time, when I’m not binge watching my latest obsession on Netflix or giving into my coffee addiction, I enjoy cooking (I don’t play about my Jollof! ^.^) reading, playing the piano, and vibe-ing to all kinds of music!

As cliché as it may sound, I have always wanted to be a doctor. I believe that becoming a physician is my calling. I aspire to be the best physician I van be and have interests in Pediatric Surgery and Pediatric-Emergency Medicine. But, as some of you readers may know, the Road to M.D. is not easy. Throughout my journey I am often asked about what I did to prepare each step of the way or what I would have done differently.  I am now starting Medical School and have a lot to share as a response, so I decided to consolidate and document it all here on Prescribed by Tare!  My story/journey is pretty long, but I believe there are many takeaways at the end. I believe you can truly learn and benefit from hearing the experiences of others, so I made sure to go into detail with each post. So sit back, relax, and read on!
